WELCOME JULY
Welcome July and a big loving welcome to you. 😄 I have never done an official welcome where I share more about myself and learn more about you.
I've gotta share that during my time of blogging, I have met some of the most amazing and talented people. I've actually met nine in person and I've had the opportunity to collab with a few. It's been an amazing journey and I'm so excited for more.
Soooo, before I get started with sharing a bit more about me and learning about you, I just have to say, how cute is this dress? For anyone who has read any of my posts, you may know I'm super frugal. I LOVE saving moonla. This cutie of a dress was under $40. That made me want to do a happy dance in it. And you guys, it has pockets! For anyone who loves pockets in a dress, you know that's some exciting news. When I tried it on I had forgotten it had pockets. I was excited all over again. And the fit is ah-mazing.
I don't know where I'm going, but I'm going to find somewhere to wear this dress. It's too cute to not have a night out on the town, safely and with a cute mask to match of course.
Click my photo or below to check out this beauty. You're probably going to see this dress on my Instagram feed a lot. The fabric is surprisingly light making it perfect for summer and the colors lends itself to be perfect for every season.
Okay, so enough about my new dress that I'm loving so much. Here's a bit more about me, that's not in my ABOUT tab.
~ I'm the oldest of 5 kids and I'm the only girl. My brothers spoil me and I'm good with that, LOL.
~ Both my biological and step dad {I just call them both dad} are ministers.
~ I attended a performing arts school where I studied musical theatre.
~ My first job was at the age of 12 where I had the honor of caring for foster kids.
~I was given the nickname Tiger Lady, LOL :) by New York Knicks player John Salley because I wore a tiger print sweater to set one day. I used to do Extra work. I later learned that John is the person who gave Downtown Julie Brown her nick name. I thought that was super cute. And I'm thinking my followers probably don't even know who these people are, LOL. :) Oh my gosh, I'm telling my age.
~ I was a massage and spa therapist for about 13 years and also owned a boutique spa.
~I lived in Colorado and Virginia as a child before returning to my hometown Chattanooga, TN where I lived until I went off to college.
~ I grew up below Lookout Mountain, the mountain Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. mentioned in his I Have A Dream speech. I loved my mornings walking to the school's bus stop where I'd see the beautiful mountain. And I especially loved it during the Fall when the leaves would turn to the most beautiful colors.
~ Speaking of Fall, it's my favorite season.
~ I was a nerd and pageant girl during my school years.
~ I had the honor of meeting Mr. Dith Pran. Mr. Pran was a photojournalist who acted as an interpreter for a New York Times reporter who went to Cambodia to cover its Civil War. Mr. Pran. was a refugee who survived the Cambodian genocide. There's a scene in the movie, The Killing Fields, that makes me cry just thinking about it.
~ I hosted Linn Yann to my junior high school. Yann with her family escaped Cambodia. She later won the spelling bee. Yann knew very little English when she came to America. It is reported she knew 10 words.
~ Had I pledged a sorority during college it would have been Delta Sigma Theta. I won a college scholarship from them during my 11th grade year for a public speaking contest.
I feel like I'm forgetting something. Life has been packed with so many blessings for which I'm very thankful.
Thank you again so much for being here. I hope you have a wonderful summer filled with love. What are you most looking forward to this summer?
