STAINED
STAINED
Things undecorated
not complicated
Stripped down
BARE
So you can truly see
what's really there
Wood
Heart
Tree
Earth
SOUL
all unclothed
STAINED
There were others there before
Footprints
Sand
Sanding down
With no one out
but still we hear their sounds
TOGETHER
Apart
Pull up together
Sturdy, legs
STRONG
Will we feel today forever?
Who built you
What did their hands feel
their eyes see
from how long ago?
how is it that you still stand
BE
and what will you become again
ALONE
or with others
passed down from a grandma
to a mother
And like now
will we learn from what we feel
what we see
will we feel and change beyond this moment
or once it's all
OVER
will we go back to
decorating, masking our stained truths
become once again decorated
and buried
in the same ignorance
and ignored
forgetting this feeling
this time
these moments
and just be covered, decorated once more
in a beauty
that's really not
Flowers, lace, tablecloths,
happy pictures
covering the table's top
Hiding the stains once again
until we're stripped down
and faced with another end
Will we just
PRETEND
ain't no stains
This table is stable
decorated so beautifully
can't you see?
No matter how lovingly it's decorated
it still remains
STAINED
