International Women's Day

The first International Women's Day was celebrated in 1911. Wow!!!  I only recently heard of International Women's Day.  Celebrated on March 8 of each year, the celebration encourages highlighting the social, economic and political achievements of women. Many organizations identify their own International Women's Day themes.

This year, The Love Channel with Ty Swint would like to celebrate International Women's Day by encouraging women to continue to uplift and empower one another. Something as simple as a phone call, a text, posting on social media to the women in your life that inspire you. Let them know they inspire and encourage you. Share a congratulations to them for that special achievement in their life. A simple word of encouragement or job well done can make a world of difference, inspiring the women in your life to continue to move forward, uplifting their day and helping to give them the strength they need to carry on and uplift others.

Often times women have a bad reputation of not standing by one another. I think this may be a myth that we have shown is not true. We did not come this far by tearing one another down. I have more women than not that encourage and inspire me. Their voices of strength and empowerment always light my way more than any dark voice. I love these women in my life dearly and would like to share some of them with you today. Let us continue to inspire, uplift and encourage one another. We can do this. Let's #MakeItHappen

Happy International Women's Day

Update: 3/8/2016 - This year's International Women's Day theme focuses on parity. My favorite story surrounding equal pay for women is the story Sherri Shepherd shared on how Rosie O' Donnell walked her through her negotiation process for her start on the TV show The View. And as an aspiring entrepreneur in the blogging {tough world of fashion} and music world, I am very thankful to those bloggers who do income reports. It has been truly helpful.
