Today's love challenge suggest volunteering. I remember being 12 years old and unable to find a summer job. My mom suggested I volunteer for the summer. It was such a wonderful experience, that was also bittersweet. I will never forget the director trusting me to rock a child that had been burned with cigarettes by a parent. Working with kids who knew their parents would be at the center where I worked to pick them up everyday and also with kids who were apart of foster care offered huge lessons in life, love, understanding, compassion and this realization that no matter how little my family sometimes had financially, we had what was most important, each other and love.
